Teaching Practice

I prepared three lesson plans as a guide in learning practice after making observations the previous week. I did a practice lesson in Geometry grade 8 with Mr Angelou. The material I provide is about Postulates, Theorems, and Angles. I use two types of learning methods, learning by discussion and practice. Apart from that, I provide ice breaking in the middle of learning to reduce student boredom. Students are very enthusiastic about the learning carried out, but there are still many evaluations that must be corrected.

LEARNING EVALUATION 1

  1. The students must be able to hear the instructions. Consider the class arrangement when modulating your voice.
  2. Be consistent If you decide to give rewards during the first meeting.
  3. Observe proper time management.
  4. You may begin the class with a prayer
  5. Avoid addressing your students as “Friends” or “Guys”.
  6. Do not block the presentation (projector screen).
  7. Move around the classroom to encourage lively class interaction.
  8. Always remind the students to return to their proper seats after a group activity.
  9. Language barrier is a primary concern in delivering instruction.
  10. Use simple English so students can understand the material being presented.
  11. Ask students to determine a group leader per row for the easy facilitation.
  12. Provide worksheets if necessary.

LEARNING EVALUATION 2

  1. Practice your English-speaking skills for better communication.
  2. Practice reading English mathematical terms.
  3. Maintain a good class management.
  4. Give clear instructions.
  5. Double-check typographical errors in the presentation.
  6. Manage your class properly and treat students accordingly.

LEARNING EVALUATION 3

  1. Continue the use of Ice Breaker as it enlivens the class before discussion.
  2. Pronunciation of the word “Angle” in particular should be practiced.
  3. Observe the amount of text you put in presentations. Lesser texts with bigger font sizes are easier to read.
  4. Monitor your students especially when you allow them to check their quizzes in class to avoid cases of cheating.
  5. Avoid making conceptual mistakes (erroneous mathematical concepts).
  6. When looking at students, look at them as a whole. Don’t be selective.

Explanation

The teacher provides an initial explanation of the material that will be studied and discussed

Discussion

Discussions are carried out with instructions and direction from the teacher. Students discuss the worksheet given by the teacher which will later be presented

Presentation

Students present the results of the discussion and ask for the correctness of the results. Then the teacher provides an explanation of all the lessons that have been discussed
